Thus far we have covered four of the seven elements of art; line, shape, form and space. This week we will focus on value, how to create it both with graphite and oil pastel. We did talk about value a bit when we covered form, but we didn't discuss how to create it with color. We will be drawing with oil pastel from a still life of pumpkins. The main thing that I would like the students to focus on is showing form with value. I have explained to them that the best way to make realistic looking shadows is by using the color's opposite.
Red - Green
Blue - Orange
Yellow - Purple
