Portraiture and the Golden Ratio

The Golden Ratio has fascinated people from many disciplines. Mathematicians, scientists, artists, architects, musicians and so on, have been drawn to this mysterious sequence that can be applied to painting, composing, building and more.
In class the students will learn how to draw the Fibonacci spiral. We will discuss how to apply this knowledge to portraiture in order to achieve an effective focal point.
We will spend one week working on practice exercises that will prepare the students to draw a traditional style portrait.
The students will work in class for one week on a portrait. I will take their picture so they may work from it to draw a self portrait or if they would rather draw someone else they may bring in their own photo to work from.
