There are many different ways to approach figure drawing but no matter what style or technique you choose it is always best to begin by understanding the basic structure of the human skeleton. Even if you intend to elongate or exaggerate for the purpose of style, every artist should know realistic proportions first. In class the students will learn a method that breaks the human figure up into simple geometric shapes. Drawing this simplified version of a form makes the next step of adding details easier. Right on top of the geometric shapes, an artist can then add muscles, curves, features, and finally clothing and accessories to create a finished drawing.
